Maintain the Youth Justice Precinct grounds to a high standard, helping create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for young people, staff, and visitors. Deliver a range of grounds and landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, brush cutting, weed control, and irrigationwhile working collaboratively as part of a dedicated team. The Department of Justice and Community Safety Youth Justice is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system in Victoria, focusing on prevention, diversion, and early intervention as the most effective and fiscally responsible ways of reducing youth crime. Youth Justice Custodial Services aim to engage young people in change by addressing their offending behaviour and equipping them with the skills required for positive community participation, within a safe and secure environment. The Landscape and Grounds Maintenance Officer will work within a team and report to the Facilities Coordinator. Opportunity Ongoing, full-time position based at Malmsbury, Victoria. VPS 3 role: $79,122 - $96,073 per year plus super. Responsibilities Maintain the property including areas of Native Grasslands (Conservation) and Areas of Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Potential. Operate as part of a team to provide high level services aimed at maintaining grounds at the Precinct by organising, delivering and sustaining various periodic and general grounds maintenance works. Safely operate vehicles or powered equipment such as rideon mowers, tractors, twinaxle vehicles, chainsaws, electric clippers, sod cutters, pruning saws, forklifts and elevated work platforms (EWP). Operate and maintain hand and power tools. Develop specific goals and plans to prioritise, organise, and accomplish tasks on a daytoday basis or as directed. Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships within the team and with people working on the precinct including contractors, subcontractors and relevant stakeholders. Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, parking spaces and grounds features. Highpressure cleaning of concrete paths or outdoor areas as required. Undertake reactive maintenance or other tasks as directed by the team leader. Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department''s records, information security and privacy policies and requirements. Qualifications and Requirements Experience in landscape and grounds maintenance with the ability to perform varied horticulture periodic, general and reactive maintenance tasks. Experienced operator of machinery, tools and equipment used for grounds maintenance. Will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) to be maintained during the period of employment.
