PEER, in partnership with the Commonwealth and South Australian Governments and TAFE SA, is excited to bring the Shipbuilding Employment Pathways (SEP) Pilot Initiative to South Australia. About the Role The 4year Apprenticeship offers nationally accredited training, awarding a Certificate III in Engineering Mechanical upon successful completion. Delivered through the PEER Group Training Organisation (GTO) in collaboration with TAFE SA (Regency Park), and includes onsite work placements with employers at the forefront of the defence industry across SA. Manufacturing Parts: Creating components from raw materials using lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines. Reading Drawings: Interpreting engineering plans, blueprints, and specifications. Precision Work: Performing highly accurate measurements and fitting parts to tight tolerances. Assembly & Fitting: Assembling, fitting, and installing mechanical equipment and components. Maintenance & Repair: Servicing, maintaining, and repairing machinery and equipment. You will be mentored and supported by a dedicated Apprentice and Trainee Supervisor, and gain access to support from Mas National, TAFE SA, and host employers. You will receive a competitive wage in line with the National Training Wage, including annual leave, personal leave, and superannuation. Requirements and Expectations Due to the defence orientation, successful candidates must be eligible to obtain an appropriate level of Defence Security Clearance as defined in the AGSVA guidelines. Applicants will need to complete preemployment checks, including aptitude testing, reference checks, national police check, citizenship check, working with children check, and medical drug and alcohol testing.
