Our passion is to empower people to make choices and take control of their lives in order to live the life they want.We seek to work closely with our clients, and to truly understand what is important to them, to create opportunities for them to achieve their goals.THE ROLEWe currently require casual Mental Health & Disability Support Workers available for Supported Independent Living & Community clients based in Atherton and surrounding areas.The role will involve:Building and maintaining trusting and meaningful working relationships with our clients, their circle of support and the community.Assisting in developing, implementing, and evaluating plans that enable our clients to set and achieve personal goals.Facilitating community inclusion and participation and supporting our clients to establish and maintain relationships and interests through access to community activities, venues, and services.Encouraging positive and socially appropriate behaviour and effectively manage challenging behaviours.Providing personal care where required and personalised support in accordance with the personal plan.ABOUT YOUYou will have a passion for working with people with disabilities with an understanding and commitment to a person-centered model of practice.Previous experience in and knowledge of the disability services industry and an ability to work flexible hours, with a willingness to work a range of shifts, with a variety of clients is a must.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONSCert III Disability (or working towards), or experience in Disability SupportNDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate (or willing to obtain)Experience with Manual Handling (or working towards)Reliable transportation for Community Access & ParticipationCurrent First Aid Certificate and CPR CertificateQueensland Provisional or above Drivers LicenceCurrent Paid Working with Children Check (Blue Card) (or willing to obtain)Current Paid NDIS Workers Screening Card (Yellow Card) (or willing to obtain)WHAT WE OFFEREmployee Assistance ProgramFlexible rosteringA challenging and rewarding career supporting participants to reach their goalsA welcoming environmentOpportunities to progress from casual to permanentBlue Iris Support Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer and welcomes applicants who have an indigenous and/or culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background.
