About the role Following a recent organisational review, Aboriginal Housing Victoria has created the role of Deputy CEO Governance, Quality and Compliance to strengthen executive leadership and succession capability across the organisation. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this role is a member of the Executive Management Group and is positioned as a key senior leader within AHV, with strong exposure to the Board and external regulatory environment. The role has been designed to provide organisational stability, strengthen governance and compliance frameworks, and support the long-term sustainability of AHV. The Deputy CEO leads a diverse portfolio comprising four teams: Board Executive Support Governance, Performance, Quality and Safety Communications Human Resources and Organisational Development This is a highly influential executive role with responsibility for legal, governance and regulatory compliance and executive-level decision making. The role also provides an opportunity for an experienced Aboriginal executive who may be looking to step into a broader Deputy CEO position, with strong organisational visibility and impact. About you You are a contemporary, culturally grounded executive leader with strong governance, compliance and people leadership experience, and a deep understanding of the context in which Aboriginal community-controlled organisations operate. You bring sound judgement, political acumen, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory and stakeholder environments. You are comfortable working closely with Boards, senior executives, regulators and government, and you lead with integrity, accountability and purpose. You are a collaborative leader who can strengthen systems, drive organisation-wide change, and build a high-performing executive culture. Your leadership style is values-led, inclusive, and change-focused, aligned with Aboriginal self-determination and community aspirations. Selection Criteria Strong awareness and appreciation of Victorian Aboriginal societies, cultures, and contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal people. Proven executive-level leadership and people management capability. Demonstrated experience working closely with Boards and senior governance structures. Extensive experience across governance, legal and regulatory compliance, or organisational assurance functions. High-level conceptual, analytical and judgement capability in complex and sensitive environments. Strong change leadership capability, including strengthening systems, processes and organisational performance. Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills across community, government and sector environments.
