About this role We are looking for a motivated, passionate forensic accountant with business valuations experience (or a keen interest in this area) to join our Melbourne Forensic Consulting team as an Associate. You could also be someone from another accounting specialism (such as audit or private advisory) whose intellectual curiosity and investigative mindset lend themselves to a career in forensics. They provide bespoke advice to clients on a variety of matters including business valuations, commercial loss and damage claims, insurance events and investigations. Recent projects Valuation of intellectual property of a hospitality franchise for Supreme Court proceedings Valuation of a large Melbourne based property developer for family law proceedings Dispute arising under a purchase and sale agreement for the sale of a chain of retail stores Assessment of economic loss in large insurance litigation claims Fraud and asset tracing investigation in the retail sector Key responsibilities Review disparate financial information and identify critical financial elements to the dispute Identify documents that will assist in the determination of issues in dispute Liaise with clients and referrers in relation to obtaining information and communicating outcomes Detailed review and analysis of the financial performance of a business Research and analysis of a variety of business, industry and economic data and information Assist in the preparation of forensic accounting reports for use in a corporate or regulator / court setting You will be encouraged to develop your commercial acumen and wider skills by participating in business development initiatives for the Forensics team, as well as building your own personal brand and network. Skills and experience Qualification(s) and / or professional accreditation(s) in a relevant discipline such as Business / Commerce, Accounting or Finance, or other relevant professional or overseas qualification(s) Significant experience in an accounting environment preparing business valuation reports and commercial loss and damage reports for disputes Fluent written and spoken communication skills, as well as excellent report-writing and presentation skills Analytical and critical thinking skills, approaching scenarios with an open mind and strong attention to detail Well organised with and developed time management skills, with the ability to adhere to strict deadlines and initiative to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances Strong IT literacy, including use of Microsoft Office suite (primarily Excel) #J-18808-Ljbffr
