About the role The Chief Investment Officer reports to the CEO and will lead the Funds investment strategy, governance, and operational oversight to deliver sustainable member outcomes, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and drive growth in alignment with Board-approved priorities. The Key Responsibilities Develop and implement the Funds investment strategy aligned with member interests and regulatory benchmarks. Advise the Board and Investment Committee on investment beliefs, portfolio construction, and market trends. Oversee investment operations, including manager selection, due diligence, and performance monitoring. Ensure compliance with APRA, ASIC, SPS 515, SPS 530, and other regulatory requirements. Lead the development and maintenance of the Investment Governance Framework and risk management processes. Represent BUSSQ as a spokesperson on investment matters with regulators, industry bodies, and external stakeholders. Manage relationships with external service providers, including investment managers and consultants. Provide leadership and mentoring to the investment team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Investments, Finance, Economics, Business, Actuarial Science, or related field. Postgraduate qualifications (e.g., Master of Finance, MBA, CFA) highly regarded. RG146 compliance and/or relevant financial services accreditation. Minimum 10 years experience in investment management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Proven track record managing large, diversified portfolios and delivering strong, risk-adjusted returns. Deep understanding of superannuation regulations, APRA standards, and investment governance. Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including Board-level reporting. Strong leadership capabilities with experience building and managing high-performing teams.
