About the Role The Commercial Manager is responsible for driving the Clubs revenue growth by identifying, securing, and managing new commercial opportunities. This role focuses on sponsorship acquisition, business partnerships, government grants, events revenue, and other innovative income streams. Success will be measured by the delivery of new and increased revenue contributions to the Club. Key Responsibilities Sponsorship & Partnership Development Identify, prospect, and secure new commercial sponsors and business partners across local, regional, and national markets. Develop compelling sponsorship proposals tailored to different partner categories and levels. Build strong relationships with existing partners, ensuring effective activation, delivery of obligations, and longterm retention. Manage sponsorship inventory, signage, digital assets, and hospitality entitlements. Execute the commercial strategy aligned with the Clubs strategic plan and financial goals. Identify additional new and diversified revenue streams, including corporate events, merchandising, collaborations, naming rights opportunities, and community programs. Maintain accurate revenue forecasting and performance reporting to the General Manager/Committee. Government & Community Grants Proactively research and identify relevant state, federal, council, and sporting body grants. Prepare, submit, and manage grant applications to support infrastructure, programs, and club development. Monitor grant compliance, reporting, and milestone delivery. Marketing & Brand Support Work with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the Clubs commercial value proposition and brand presence. Support marketing campaigns, digital assets, and communications that drive partner value and fan engagement. Contribute to matchday and event execution to ensure sponsor visibility and activation. Stakeholder Engagement Build positive relationships with local businesses, community leaders, government representatives, and rugby stakeholders. Represent the Club at networking events and relevant community engagements. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) New revenue secured per calendar year across sponsorships, partnerships, and other commercial avenues. Growth in total sponsorship portfolio value, including renewals and upgrades. Number and value of successful grant applications. Partner satisfaction and retention rates. Delivery of commercial obligations (signage, activation, digital exposure, reporting). Skills & Experience Proven track record in commercial sales, sponsorship, business development, or partnerships (sport, events, corporate, or NFP sector). Strong negotiation, proposal writing, and relationship management skills. Ability to identify and convert commercial opportunities. Excellent verbal and written communication. Selfmotivated, organised, and able to work autonomously. Experience with government grants or major funding applications. Background in community organisations or membershipbased clubs.
