OverviewThe Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia''s largest and most-loved charities. The Parramatta Salvos Community Choir (PSCC) aims to build community, connections and confidence in people experiencing hardship and loneliness. The Volunteer Choir Master is familiar with contemporary music and open to exploring world music and other cultural singing traditions, to reflect Parramatta Salvation Army''s culturally diverse community. The Choir Master reports to the Community Programs Coordinator and is supported by other staff and volunteers in executing the program.ResponsibilitiesProgram development: assemble a new community choir, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere with the aim to build community, connections and confidence in people experiencing hardship and loneliness.Recruitment: advertise and promote for new members, creating a sense of belonging for all who come along.Rehearsals: organise and lead rehearsals and encourage members to attend rehearsals and participate in feedback around program improvement and ideas.Qualifications and skillsExperience leading music ensembles and/or choirs is required or desired.Background checksBackground checks are an important part of our commitment to being a safe organisation. This role requires a Police Check as it involves working with vulnerable people and leading a program.Police Check requiredTime required & commitmentOne day per week during school termsDevelopment opportunitiesThis role offers opportunities to develop skills in community engagement and leading musical groups.
