Biosecurity Queensland monitors and regulates the application of agricultural and veterinary chemicals, ensuring they are used safely and in compliance with legislation. Strategy, Investment and Performance (SIP) delivers a range of services to support Biosecurity Queensland (BQ). SIP partners with BQ program areas to provide specialised advice on best business practice and technology to serve internal (and sometimes external) customers and business stakeholders. Responsibilities Provide strong leadership by guiding, developing and supporting a high performing finance team by fostering ongoing professional development, information sharing and mentoring opportunities. Provide expert advice to the Manager, Business Support & Governance and other senior officers regarding financial performance, accountability and transparency, governance and compliance. Ensure financial risk mitigation strategies and internal controls are developed, monitored and remedial actions are promptly addressed. You will have a keen eye for detail, great time management and effective problem-skilling skills. More than anything, you will have a positive attitude and make a great contribution to our close-knit and connected team. While accounting qualifications are not mandatory, the possession of a relevant degree and membership of CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA), or MIPA status with the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) would be considered to be highly desirable given the technical nature of this role. A Queensland Government procurement certification under the Procurement Certification Program (PCP) is also desirable.
