Moree Plains Shire Council is seeking a dedicated Wastewater Operator to join our Infrastructure team. This permanent full-time role is vital in ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of our sewerage treatment plants, pumping stations, and reticulation systems across the Shire. As part of the Water Services unit, you will play a key role in protecting community health and the environment by ensuring that essential wastewater services are delivered efficiently, safely, and to a high standard. In this role, you will: Respond promptly to sewer blockages and pump station breakdowns. Operate and maintain pumping stations, sewage treatment works, and reticulation systems. Carry out inspections, sampling, and testing to ensure compliance and safety. Identify and report hazards, unsafe practices, and plant breakdowns. Participate in an on-call roster for after-hours response and undertake overtime as required. Key skills and attributes include: Certificate III in Water (Wastewater) Industry Operations (or willingness to enrol during probation). Sound literacy, numeracy, and record-keeping skills. Practical problem-solving ability and strong attention to detail. Effective communication skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Current NSW MR Class Driver Licence (Manual) and General Construction Induction Card (White Card). Willingness to work after hours as required and maintain currency of immunisations (Tetanus and Hepatitis A & B).
