The Opportunity We''re looking for someone who is passionate about carpentry to join the Building Maintenance team. As a Carpenter, youll perform all aspects of carpentry including set out, framing, finishing and fit-out for Council buildings. Youll maintain and repair assets, operate specialist woodworking equipment, and ensure work meets trade standards. The role also involves preparing job schedules, estimating materials, and coordinating contractors when required. If you''re a team player who loves their craft, this might be the role for you! Key responsibilities include: Perform carpentry tasks including framing, finishing and fit-out for Council buildings. Maintain and repair building assets to recognised trade standards. Operate and care for specialist woodworking tools and equipment. Prepare job schedules, estimate materials and coordinate contractors when required. What were looking for: Physically capable of handling the requirements of the position. Qualifications in carpentry, joinery or cabinet making and knowledge of current trade practices. Minimum five years in building maintenance and construction experience. Demonstrated skill in the planning and organising work schedule. Demonstrated ability to work in a safe manner and follow safety procedures while organising work, setting and achieving realistic timelines and objectives. Good communication skills to liaise with service users, public and other Council staff. Commitment to high standards of customer service. And it would be great (but not essential) if you also have: Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements specific to building industry (eg work from height regulations etc.). Knowledge and skills in other building trades (tiling, painting etc). Good information technology skills and knowledge of relevant software. Required Qualifications: Trade certificate or equivalent (carpentry, joinery or cabinetmaking) The successful candidate will need to complete a police check and pre-employment medical.
