About the Role We are seeking a Business Manager to lead and effectively manage N.G. Brown & Associates Pty Ltd, recently acquired by Trescal Australia Pty Ltd, as it transitions into the wider organization. The successful candidate will have full operational and commercial leadership of the business, with responsibility for performance, technical leadership, culture, people, and growth. Additionally, this leader will have responsibilities regarding the post-merger integration (PMI) process, managing multi-disciplinary workstreams, ensuring alignment across stakeholders, and maintaining business continuity. A mix of commercial acumen, financial understanding, operational and technical leadership, and soft skills are essential. Experience in engineering services, industrial services, or scientific/technical environments with compliance to ISO 17025 is advantageous. The role will work closely with the Managing Director of N.G. Brown & Associates Pty Ltd, as well as the Victorian General Manager for Trescal. In this handson leadership role, you will foster a culture of accountability, innovation, sustainability, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), and continuous improvement (LEAN/Six Sigma) across the organisation. 1. Business & Operations Management Take full P&L accountability for the business unit. Lead operational performance, revenue growth, technical continuity, margin improvement, and strategic planning. Manage a multi-disciplinary team for the co-ordination and planning of calibration activities to provide a timely and reliable service to clients in accordance with the requirements of the company Quality System, and drive continuous improvement across all functions. Identify and pursue opportunities for organic growth, service expansion, and customer value creation. Maintain and grow key customer relationships. Any other reasonable task as requested by the Managing Director or General Manager. Build and develop high-performing teams across operations, commercial, and support functions. Identify capability gaps and implement team rebuilding, recruitment, and coaching strategies. Work closely with HR and senior leaders within the organisation to embed a strong workplace culture, engagement practices, and leadership behaviours. Promote psychological safety, DEI values, and positive team collaboration. Maintain a safe and efficient work environment for all staff. 3. Technical, Risk, Compliance & Governance Develop and implement frameworks that deliver cost efficiencies while maintaining strong governance and ethical principles. Responsible for accredited scope, ensuring compliance to ISO 17025 including internal audits, proficiency tests and management review meetings. With Chief Metrologist assistance, provide a high level of technical support and expert advice in metrology to clients and company staff for the calibrations as defined by the laboratory calibration scope. Maintain NATA and NMI signatory status and develop accredited signatories within the business to ensure continuity and redundancy in process. Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. 4. Post-Merger Integration (PMI) Leadership Local leadership in the end-to-end integration process across finance, operations, technology, and people & culture. Manage risks, dependencies, and communication to ensure smooth and timely integration. Maintain business continuity pre & post integration and safeguard key customer relationships. Assist with the integration of IT infrastructure, ERP, digital tools, and data systems. Support brand alignment and customer experience improvements across the business. To be a Successful Candidate: Bachelor''s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Science, Project Management, or related field. Experience managing P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimisation (minimum 3-5 years of P&L management experience is ideal). People leader experience (minimum of 3-5 years of people leadership experience is ideal). Background in engineering services, science, industrial or manufacturing sectors is highly advantageous.
