Mackay Hospital and Health Service Mackay QLD The Mental Health & Alcohol & Other Drugs Service (MH&AODS) at the Mackay Hospital and Health Service is seeking applications for a GP with Special Interest - Psychiatry to join their team on a permanent part-time basis (32 hrs p.f.). Your opportunity The primary objectives of the GP with Special Interest (GPwSI) - Psychiatry model includes: Provide for the needs of patients within the public outpatients'' system referred for the investigation and management of mental health medical conditions that cannot currently be met by Primary Care. To facilitate holistic patient care by utilising expertise, perspectives, and resources of practitioners from both primary and secondary care. The applicant will work within a team of specialist clinicians with access to public investigative and management resources. The role will be supervised by consultant medical staff and there will be opportunities for training, education and taking part in quality activities such as research, clinical audit, safety and service planning. Deliver high-quality outpatient services within the scope of clinical practice granted by the appropriate Medical Credentialing delegate at the hospital(s) in which you perform this work. Provide high quality medical care under the supervision and guidance of the consultant medical staff. About the Team The Mackay MH&AODS comprises an acute mental health inpatient facility with 24 beds and a Step-Up Step-Down Unit with 6 beds. Community Mental Health Services include an Acute Care Service, Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, Continuing Care Team, Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Team, Early Psychosis, Child and Youth Mental Health, Older Persons Mental Health, and Alcohol & Other Drugs Service. The rural communities are serviced by outreaching community teams in the Moranbah and Whitsunday area. In addition to the Community Child and Youth Mental Health Service we have an Assertive Mobile Youth Outreach Service which forms part of an integrated continuum of care for adolescents requiring mental health treatment. These services are based in Mackay with limited outreach services to Bowen, Moranbah, and Sarina. The Child and Adolescent Unit in the MBH have two designated mental health beds for crisis intervention cases and links with the Townsville Adolescent Unit in the case of prolonged admissions.
