About the Role This role plays a pivotal role in delivering QAOs performance and audits - leading day-to-day delivery of audits, guiding teams through complex analytical work and shaping early findings and insights that ultimately inform reports tabled in Parliament. This is a role for someone who enjoys analytical depth, autonomy and the challenge of turning large volumes of information into clear, compelling insights about how public programs are performing. You will plan and manage multiple audits, build a strong understanding of policy, service delivery models and better practice principles, and apply sound judgement to ensure findings are supported by reliable evidence. Working across varied government portfolios, youll gain exposure to new sectors, emerging risks and high-value programsproviding continuous learning and the opportunity to build broad sector expertise. The role of Senior Manager Performance Audit also plays a critical role in capability uplift: supervising and coaching team members, overseeing quality review processes, working with subject matter experts and contributing to organisational improvement. You will manage stakeholder relationships, conduct interviews, review complex documentation and prepare high-quality draft reports aligned with QAOs writing standards. About You You are a handson analytical leader who enjoys working with complexity and guiding teams through structured problemsolving. You bring strong judgement, curiosity and the ability to quickly absorb new subject matter whether policy, operational processes or broader system dynamics. You have experience leading projects or audits, managing competing priorities and applying evidencebased thinking to form wellreasoned conclusions. You write clearly and concisely, communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and are confident navigating ambiguity to identify risks, performance issues and improvement opportunities. Your background may include internal audit, consulting, program evaluation, policy analysis, operations, investigations, risk or similar fields.
