The PositionThe client is seeking multiple Specialist Emergency Medicine Physicians for a busy Emergency Department. The successful applicant will work closely with the Emergency Medicine Clinical Director and assist in providing an appropriate teaching program and supervision of clinical practice and training of undergraduates and postgraduates in the emergency department. Strong and effective communication, conflict management, leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills, and developed written and verbal communication are desirable. Hospital and DepartmentThe hospitals emergency department sees 27,000 cases per year with an admission rate of 20%. It is a regional trauma centre supported by Obstetrics & Gynecology, Psychiatry, Intensive Care, Plastics, Orthopaedics, Geriatrics, General Surgery, and Medicine. Key Responsibilities, Activities, and DutiesClinical leadership and management roles, supporting the Clinical Director of Emergency Medicine in quality and risk management activities.Support and assist in the training of medical students, junior medical staff and nursing staff involved in emergency medicine.Participate in the Hospitals Healthcare Medical Emergency Response Plan.Participation in relevant research activities.Comply with continuing educational activities as outlined by ACEM and other professional bodies.Perform other duties reasonably directed by the Clinical Director of Emergency Medicine.Provide support and leadership to promote excellence in medical education and research within the hospital and community where required. Essential RequirementsBroad experience in Emergency Medicine for confident practice in a regional area.Registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Emergency Physicians, or ACEM substantially comparable.Commitment to quality improvement activities in Emergency Medicine.Effective communication, conflict management and team-building skills.Experience with training needs of junior medical staff; leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills are desirable.
