Moree Plains Shire Council is seeking a Governance Coordinator to join their Legal & Governance team. This is a crucial, solecontributor role, working closely with the Manager Legal & Governance to embed a culture of compliance and best practice across the organisation. Salary : Up to $100k + Superannuation | Hours : 35hour week + RDO every 3 weeks A Look at the Role This position is dynamic and handson, covering the full spectrum of Council governance. The Coordinator''s key responsibilities will include : Policy & Documentation: Leading the regular review of the Council''s policies and procedures, including drafting amendments and conducting quality control checks for readability and legislative consistency. They will also review and draft policies. Compliance Management: Developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance systems, including managing the legislative compliance register, Agency Information Guide, and register of material contracts. Audit & Risk: Supporting the internal audit functions, managing the Audit Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC), and coordinating audits. Statutory Duties: Operating as one of the Council''s Public Interest Disclosure (PID) Officers and acting as the Privacy Contact Officer. Support: Assisting with Code of Conduct complaints, maintaining the Council''s delegations register, and handling requests under the Government Information (Public Access) Act (NSW). What They Are Looking For The Council is open to a fresh thinkerperhaps someone with a legal / governance background from a university, a large organisation that produces highlevel board reports, or even a great Executive Assistant from an HR consultancy with policy experience. Previous local government experience is NOT required, though it is desirable. Essential Skills & Experience Proven Governance Experience: Practical experience in Legal and Governance functions and developed ability to interpret, apply, and advise on legislative practices. Exceptional Attention to Detail: They need someone who is great with words and can review, draft, and produce highquality, professional documents and reports. Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, combined with strong confidentiality when handling sensitive information. Organised & Productive: Excellent organisational skills and proven ability to manage userfriendly electronic systems (like delegation registers) to prioritise and meet set deadlines. Required Qualification: A Class C Driver''s Licence is essential. A Note on Location & Flexibility This role must be based in Moree. However, they offer flexibility around a roster; a mix of 2 or 3 days from home is fine. This is an officebased role; remote work for this position is not permitted. Why Join Their Team?
