The Staff Specialist - Medical Oncologist will: Provide a senior role in Medical Oncology and related services at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH). Provide outpatient care to the patients of RHH in all aspects of Medical Oncology. Increase the RHH clinical services in Medical Oncology as required by the Head of Department. Who are we? Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmanias largest hospital and major referral centre. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community. Provide Consultant Service to inpatients. Conduct or direct outpatient clinics if needed in all aspects of Medical Oncology. Participate in quality assurance programs for the Medical Oncology Department. Teaching: Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate specialist trainee teaching. Liaise with the University of Tasmanias Department of Medicine in respect to the teaching of undergraduates and Registrars. Research: Maintain an active involvement in research. Management: Responsible to the Head of Unit (Medical Oncology). Liaison with the University of Tasmanias Department of Medicine on issues relating to undergraduate teaching and research. Actively participate in and contribute to the organisations Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training. Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority. Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $216,300 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $296,640 with further salary increments available. Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 - $310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: Allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $28,786 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year). Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,974 pro rata per annum. All other allowances as per current Award. And subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on-call, (pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid. Other Benefits: You will have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. Details of Appointment Fixed term full-time day work, working 76 hours per fortnight commencing 2 February 2026 until 3 April 2026. Holds specialist registration; or Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.
