Job Description

We''re looking for an experienced and handson Farm Manager, with crop management and practical operator skills, to run our vegetable cropping operations on multiple farms in the Fassifern Valley.Your key crops will be conventionally grown sweet corn, green beans, carrots and onions. You''ll be in charge of ground preparation, planting, irrigation, pest management and crop health, with a strong focus on yield.As a working manager you''ll provide critical farm oversight and practical know-how to get the job done with the support of a small team of farm hands. About You You''re practical, reliable and take pride in a wellrun farm. You''ll have great attention-to-detail and be adept at solving problems in real time. Ideally, you bring: Minimum 5 years farm management experience, preferably in row cropping or horticulture. Strong machinery and irrigation skills to support precision farming methods. A current driver''s licence and ChemCert (HR licence & forklift licence desirable). A knack for coordinating people and getting the best from your team. A flexible approach to heavy workloads at times, with a farmer''s understanding that hours vary in response to the weather and crop requirements. Australian work rights are required for this position. Tertiary qualifications in Agribusiness, Ag Science and/or Trade Certificates would be highly regarded, but practical experience matters most. What You''ll Be Doing Manage and take part in all aspects of vegetable production from cultivation and planting to irrigation and spraying. Maintain farm records and assist with farm financial planning and budget development. You''ll be responsible for adhering to annual crop, repairs and maintenance budgets. In consultation with our agronomists, monitor crop performance, soil health, and pest and disease pressure, and respond proactively. Operate and perform general maintenance on farm machinery and implements, irrigation systems, small motors and other equipment. Lead and support a small team of farm hands. Support operations across other Kalfresh growing regions when required.
