2 Year Contract Darwin About the Legal Aid NT Legal Aid NT is an independent statutory authority established under the Legal Aid Act 1990 (NT). Our purpose is to ensure that people in the Northern Territory understand their legal rights and disadvantaged people have access to quality legal services, and to uphold a fair Northern Territory and national justice system. About the role Under the supervision of the Associate Director Crime, manage and coordinate the Parole Legal Service for prisoners with mental health conditions and/or cognitive impairments seeking parole. About you You are a Solicitor with experience in legal practice, including demonstrated experience in advocacy, providing written submissions, complex advice, and undertaking policy, and law reform work. Crucial in your success in this role is your high level interpersonal and communication and negotiation skills and demonstrated ability to liaise and communicate effectively with staff, external stakeholders, and clients with complex needs and from diverse backgrounds. In your role you will manage a caseload and provide advocacy and prepare submissions on behalf of prisoners for consideration by the Parole Board. You will work closely with the parole planning case worker and coordinator of the Parole Legal Service.
