Job Description

We are a private Bush Camp on 80 acres in the forest along the Murray River in Dwellingup that caters to the needs of schools, churches, youth groups, and other community-based groups. We can cater for over 300 across 3 large bunkhouses. We have been operating camps for over 40 years. We provide a worldclass naturebased environment where we develop the students in a variety of outcomebased activity programmes, such as leadership, problem solving, teamwork and adventure. We operate onsite a range of outdoor activities including: abseiling, climbing tower, zipline, raft building, rafting, kayaking and a low ropes adventure course. We are looking to appoint a lead activity instructor with roping qualifications on a parttime contract basis to assist with our upcoming school camps. Accommodation and meals are provided while on program. As the Lead activity instructor you will run the team, plan, do some admin and run activities in which you are qualified/trained. Qualifications & Experience First Aid (HLTAID002) and (HLTAID003) CPR (HLTAID001) Working with Children Check Bronze Medallion/Community Surf Rescue (or willingness to obtain ASAP) Drivers Licence Valid Australian Working rights Proficient in various outdoor skillsets: low ropes, rock climbing (artificial), abseiling (artificial) and ziplining. Qualifications in Climbing and Abseiling and/or Vertical rescue Relevant activity instructing qualifications Proficient in various outdoor skillsets: kayaking, mountain biking and bushwalking. Minimum 1 year experience as an outdoor instructor Duties and Responsibilities Leading a team of activity instructors during school camps Rostering activity instructors to staff programs for school camps Staying up to date on training and staff qualifications Ensuring all activity staff have the appropriate gear and equipment Setting up and packing down equipment before and after activities with the instructor team Activity equipment stocktake and ordering Activity equipment cleaning and maintenance Engaging with school camp organisers, checking in and ensuring all information about the activity program has been accurately communicated Attributes of the Successful Candidate A commitment to deliver excellent customer service The ability to empathise and support individuals in situations which are physically and emotionally demanding Enthusiasm for the outdoor environment The ability to assess a situation rapidly and act decisively under pressure Excellent leadership, group management and communication skills Good stamina and technical skills in a range of outdoor activities Able to work evenings and weekends If you are currently seeking parttime or casual work running school camps we would love to hear from you. #J-18808-Ljbffr
