Requirements for this role Flexible hours available 2-3 years of relevant work experience required for this role Expected salary: $68,863 - $76,515 per year Job Description WANTED - FISHING HAND & DECKHAND WITH LONG LINE TRAPPING EXPERIENCE Hagfish Australia Pty Ltd. is looking for an experienced, drug & alcohol free Deck hand and Fishing Hand to join our team. Our single commercial vessel based out of Eden, NSW, is seeking candidates with experience in long line trapping & handling of live hagfish. Responsibilities You will be responsible for catching & maintaining hagfish in live condition. Cleaning & maintaining the vessel & its equipment at all times. Learn & adhere to all safety standards & procedures as outlined in your induction, the SMS (Safety Management System) and as directed by the skipper to ensure your safety and the safety of the other crew. Be able to assist skipper/engineer in servicing the engine and engine room equipment. Handle ropes and operate mooring equipment when berthing and unberthing. Stand watch when directed. Patrol ship to ensure the safety of the vessel, fishing gear and fellow crew. Perform routine maintenance and check on deck equipment, gear lifesaving and firefighting equipment. Prepare Fishing Traps, attach traps on running lines and set lines into position as directed. Haul in fishing traps and remove fish. Grade fish, transfer to refrigerated tank and keep them alive whilst at sea. Ready all equipment in unloading the Hagfish. Unload catch and maintain fish in live condition until exported. Drive catch to export facility & airport when required. Salary & Benefits Salary: $68,864- $76,515 per annum plus 12% super. 4 weeks annual leave.
