About Carers WA Carers WA is the peak body representing the needs and interests of carers in Western Australia and is part of a national network of Carers Associations providing a range of support services supporting Carers across Western Australia. Carers provide unpaid care and support to family members and friends who have disability mental health challenges a chronic condition terminal illness an alcohol or other drug issue or who are frail aged. About the Role The Hospital Program Educator is a full-time fixed term position until 30 June 2026. The position attracts a salary package of $80000 p.a. plus super salary packaging 5 weeks annual leave (including 17.5% leave loading on annual leave) and two wellness days per annum. After commencing the role will also have access to a company vehicle. The role combines office and outreach work engaging directly with clinical allied health and other healthcare staff across WA metropolitan and some regional hospitals to promote the Prepare to Care Program. The Prepare to Care Program provides education and resources to health staff and carers in hospital settings with the aim to empower and assist carers who are supporting a family member or friend during the various stages of inpatient care and following discharge. Some key responsibilities include Deliver education on carer identification engagement and recognition including information about the Carers Recognition Act 2004 and Carers WA supports and services. Ensure hospitals are stocked with carer resources requiring some manual handling. Attend meetings and events to promote the program and carer engagement in hospitals. Record program data to meet funding body requirements and support program management. Promote carer awareness through displays marketing and events. Carers WA promotes a workplace free of physical and psychological harm however acknowledges that some roles and inherent actions of our business mean there may be exposure to traumatic these instances and where possible Carers WA will mitigate the impact of this exposure. Essential Selection Criteria Demonstrated understanding of and recent handson experience within the Western Australian hospital system. A relevant tertiary qualification preferably in nursing or allied health (Bachelor or Diploma of Nursing is desirable). Experience in delivering group presentations. Understanding of carers issues and needs. Understanding and empathy of carers health mental health ageing and disability issues including Aboriginal CALD and LGBTIQA individuals and communities. Ability to build rapport and establish relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including health professionals executive-level staff and senior management. Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team. High level of organisation and planning skills. Welldeveloped verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Competency using computer software including Microsoft Office Suite as well as virtual communication modes (phone Teams Zoom). Ability to travel regionally (occasionally) as required.
