About The Opportunity Bundaberg Regional Council is seeking a multi-skilled Leading Hand - Grader Operator to join the Civil Works team at Kalkie Depot, performing maintenance, repair and construction activities, and leading small work crews to deliver outcomes across roads and drainage projects. A significant portion of the role is to operate a single grader in situations of moderate to high complexity and precision. The role also assists the Supervisor, including leading small teams and completing task/project documentation. Duties include, but are not limited to: Maintain a safe working environment Operate mobile plant, including a grader in situations of moderate to high complexity and precision Work on roads in proximity to traffic Manual handling and physical labouring tasks Perform roads and drainage construction and maintenance work to a trade equivalent standard Work with underground utilities and services Place and finish concrete, setup simple formwork and steel fixing Complete daily plant and operational paperwork/documentation Lead small crews, motivating and encouraging team members Assist with after-hours emergency work when required Undertake other reasonable duties directed by management within your capabilities, including during staff absences Use and record information using computer technologies About You You will require (Mandatory): Class MR Driver Licence. Demonstrated experience in the operation of a Grader (competency evidence must be provided). Demonstrated significant experience in roads and drainage construction and maintenance at a trade equivalent standard, e.g. placing/finishing concrete, sprayed bituminous and asphalt work, timber carpentry, road furniture installation and line marking. Demonstrated high-level ability to work within a team to ensure outcomes are achieved. Interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with internal and external parties. Demonstrated team leadership skills with ability to motivate and encourage team members. Possession of a Construction Industry General Safety Induction Card (White Card). Ability to complete Working at Heights Certificate if not already held, or provide current competency evidence. Ability to complete Working in Proximity to Traffic training prior to commencement if not already held, or provide current competency evidence. Class HR or HC Driver Licence. Sound experience undertaking traffic control and signage set-out on public roads (MUTCD Levels 1 or 2 would be an advantage).
