About The Role The City of Ballarat Animal Shelter Volunteer Program engages passionate community members to support the weekly routine of the shelter. Roles include: Donations, Laundry and Store Room Volunteer - The Animal Shelter receives a large number of donations, including toys, bedding, collars and leashes. These need to be sorted, added to and managed through the inventory register. This Volunteering position is ideal for anyone seeking to support the Animal Shelter by sorting the donations and keeping the storeroom organized and tidy. Additionally, this role is responsible for moving the considerable loads of pats, blankets and the like through the internal washing cycle, incl. drying. This Volunteering opportunity is available Monday Friday during business hours 0800 1600. Administration Assist Volunteer -The Administration team is looking for Volunteers to support the Animal Shelter Front-of-House team. This includes general admin tasks, as well as creating adoption packs and pet profiles. This Volunteering opportunity is available Monday Friday 1100 1600. Dog Enrichment Volunteer -The Dog Enrichment Volunteering program seeks to support one of the most important aspects of the Animal Shelters operations looking after dogs. Dog enrichment includes dog walking, playing, cleaning the dog dishes, and restocking the blanket and toy bins. This Volunteering Opportunity is available Monday Friday 1100 - 1600 Cat Enrichment Volunteer -The Cat Enrichment Volunteering program seeks to support one of the most important aspects of the Animal Shelters operations looking after cats. Cat enrichment includes brushing the animals, playing with them, cleaning the cat dishes and restocking the blanket and toy bins. This Volunteering Opportunity is available Monday Friday 1100 - 1600. About You We are looking for passionate community members who are looking to support the Animal Shelter''s purpose. Therefore, you will need to be available to work a 3.5-hour shift on your rostered day and meet the following criteria: Essential Criteria Demonstrated ability to be prompt and reliable. Self-motivated with the ability to work within a team environment. Excellent verbal communication skills. Exceptional customer service skills. Ability to work indoors and outdoors. Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Visa holder Be willing to undertake training and development as appropriate to their identified support requirements Be willing to undertake a Victorian Police Check and Working with Childrens Check (organised through City of Ballarat) Desirable Criteria Experience in working in an animal environment A good knowledge of companion animal behaviour and council community requirements with regards to pet keeping.
