About the role Thiess is seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to join the Technical Services team at our Olive Downs Complex project in the Bowen Basin, Queensland! As our next Senior Mining Engineer , reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent you will be responsible for development and rollout of efficient mining plans, schedules and excavator dig and dump designs. As the facilitator of the planning process, the role requires strong collaboration with key stakeholders. This role will also work with the client mine planning team to provide designs, and schedules to support the execution of the mine plan. Duties include but not limited to : Optimise mine designs, schedules, and fleet configuration across the planning horizon to meet both business and client objectives. Collaborate with the clients mine planning team to ensure seamless coordination and integration of the Thiess plan. Liaise with key stakeholders to address short-term planning requirements and resolve operational challenges. Communicate updates and changes to mine plans effectively across all relevant teams to ensure alignment and execution. Build and maintain strong working relationships with the operations team to support effective plan delivery. Prepare and submit accurate weekly and monthly production reports to inform performance tracking and continuous improvement initiatives. Support the month-end reconciliation process with the internal survey and finance teams. Mentor new graduate mining engineers in Thiess best practice and introduction to technical services. About you Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering (or equivalent) Minimum 5 years operational mining engineering experience (open cut preferred). Experience with MS Office, Vulcan, XPAC or SPRY, Deswik, 3D Dig or similar software Previous experience with Deswik Process Maps and Spry Haulage is highly regarded. Ability to work collaboratively within a small team environment.
