About The Opportunity Mining Skills Australia Drill & Blast Department is currently seeking experienced, proactive & adaptable Drill & Blast Trainers to join our expanding team at various locations within Australia. Ideal applicants will have either experience as a shotfirer in open cut coal or open cut metals, with drilling experience desirable or a driller in open cut environments on multiple drills (Hammer and Rotary). Must have site-based experience with delivering training and supervision on-bench to ensure safe, efficient and best practice operations. Applicants are required to possess a high level of communication skills along with computer literacy & problemsolving abilities, and the capacity to work both autonomously and within a team. Successful applicants must be based in Australia. What We Are Looking For Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or equivalent Certificate IV WHS or auditing qualifications (desirable) Open "C" Class Manual Licence or above Standard 11 Induction (Queensland only) Blast trainer and Surface shotfiring licence (desirable) Previous handson experience with operator training including safe handling, transport and use of explosives Coach and mentor personnel to promote best practices in blast design, charging, and firing procedures Conduct onthejob training and audits to ensure compliance with site safety protocols and legislation Identify skill gaps and deliver targeted training to support continuous improvement Stay up to date with explosives legislation, site procedures and industry innovations Ability to document and maintain training records Experience with both electronic and nonelectric blasting systems Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) Drill trainer Top Hole Hammer drilling experience (desirable) Provide coaching to operators on equipment operation, drilling techniques and efficient drill patterns Monitor operator performance and conduct competencybased assessments aligned with site standards Support continuous improvement by identifying training needs and skill development opportunities Assist with new operator onboarding, machine familiarisation and procedural training Promote safe work practices with a focus on hazard awareness, equipment prestarts and task planning Maintain uptodate training records and contribute to training reports and audits Stay current with technological advancements in drill rigs, automation and remote operation systems Key Responsibilities Train and develop production teams with proficiency training Utilise cuttingedge technology to assist in proficiency information capture Maintain and document training records Deliver training with a focus on safety and efficiency Collaborate with teams to enhance skill development Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for training programmes Whats On Offer Flexible rosters: various options available dependent on job roles, primarily day shifts (12hour shifts) Flights and accommodation provided Casual positions longterm (higher pay rate) + super How To Apply To apply for this position, please email your CV and cover letter to our onboarding team or apply through our website.
