Environmental Compliance Officer Reporting to General Manager and Chief Engineer We are currently seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Officer for our modern export abattoir. Key Responsibilities Include: Ensure environmental authority is in constant compliance. Actively assist with implementing Oakey policies, procedures and to ensure compliance with legislative responsibilities. Assist with implementing Oakeys Workplace Health and Safety Management system within the environmental work areas. Effectively communicate with the General Manager, Engineering Manager and the Maintenance Manager. Develop, maintain and improve the Oakey Beef Exports Environmental Management Plan and Site Based Management System. Receive, register and investigate any public complaints relating to any reported environmental nuisances including liaison with the regulatory authorities and feedback to complainants. Prepare, obtain approval for and implement improvements arising from any environmental nonconformances including incidents, complaints and audit outcomes. Liaise with relevant regulatory authorities and manage regulatory relationships. Conduct environmental compliance audits and reports. Review industry and government trends and advise management of relevant emerging issues. Identify emerging operational environmental issues and plan responses. Review environmental management technologies and advise management of developments of interest. Conduct environmental project investigations. Prepare environmental project plans, budgets and proposals. Candidate Attributes: Qualification at either degree or diploma level. Able to write and implement environmental management plans. Medium to high computer skills. Two to Three years experience in the chosen field of expertise. Abattoir experience is preferred. Research, reporting and data entry skills. Good communication skills both written and verbal. Knowledge of biogas systems would be an advantage. Positions are full time Monday to Friday 38.00hour weeks. Own reliable transport is essential as no public transport is available. Work uniforms, boots and personal protective equipment are supplied and laundered. Discounted meat products are available.
