Job Description

Budgalong is a progressive mixed-farming enterprise. The heart of the operation is a robust livestock program, joining 3,500 Merino ewes and 3,200 crossbred ewes focused on high-quality wool and prime lamb production. To optimise seasonal pasture availability, Budgalong maintains a flexible cattle arm, trading and agisting up to 1,000 head. This livestock focus is integrated with a 2,500-acre cropping rotation of wheat, canola, and barley, supported by specialist grazing crops to ensure year-round nutritional security and land sustainability. The Role A long term opportunity is available for a Senior Farm Hand to join the team at Budgalong, with opportunities to grow into senior and management roles. Reporting to the Farm Manager, the position will ideally suit a self-starter looking to broaden their existing skills and grow their knowledge in all aspects of agriculture. This is the perfect position for an applicant looking for a pathway to livestock management or to increase their experience beyond a station hand. Qualifications & experience A happy disposition and easy going nature High level of communication and teamwork skills with a strong work ethic Punctual, self-motivated and able to work unsupervised Ability and commitment to entering stock/cropping data into AgriWebb Ability to show initiative and demonstrate critical thinking/problem solving Have good working dogs and livestock handling skills Right to work in Australia Welding skills would be highly desirable Tasks & responsibilities All aspects of sheep work including yard work, drenching, vaccinating, weighing, mustering, feeding, feed mixing, jetting All aspects of cattle work including yard work, mustering, marking, vaccinating and general good husbandry practices. Understanding in repair and maintenance of water reticulation on farm Farming ability which involves set up and driving tractors for slashing, cultivating, sowing, chaser bin work, spraying and stick pushing During the peak times of planting and harvest there will be overtime needed which may include weekends. Noxious weed control- spot spraying and burr cutting using ATV, side by side or utility. Sound knowledge of farm vehicles and equipment, machinery for servicing and maintenance.
