Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with students, staff, families and community members, including managing confidential and complex issues.Demonstrated exemplary financial analysis, management and reporting skills, with a proven capacity to manage complex budgets and resources within the Student Resource Package framework. Ability to provide expert advice to leadership teams and conceptualise innovative solutions to complex operational challenges.RoleAttendance during term breaks will be required and a leave purchase allowance will be paid for this time.Purpose of PositionThe School Business Manager is a senior leadership position responsible for providing strategic, financial, and operational leadership at Mount Clear College. The role supports a community of 950 students and 140 staff, ensuring the effective, compliant, and sustainable management of financial, physical, and human resources.As a key member of the senior leadership team, the School Business Manager is accountable for the planning, coordination, and governance of all business and administrative functions that underpin the delivery of highquality education and school operations. This includes strategic oversight of finance and budgeting, procurement, payroll, human resources administration, facilities and asset management, compliance, and risk management.The position ensures that all business processes, financial systems, and administrative practices operate efficiently and transparently in accordance with Department of Education (DE) policies, audit requirements, and the School Strategic Plan. The School Business Manager provides expert advice and evidencebased recommendations to the Principal and leadeership team to support informed decisionmaking and longterm financial sustainability.The position provides leadership, guidance, and professional support to education support staff. The role ensures that consistent standards, systems, and procedures are implemented and maintained, fostering a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.The School Business Manager also contributes strategically to major projects and initiatives, including capital works, facility upgrades, and the development of new operational systems that enhance efficiency and compliance. The position requires strong analytical and communication skills, a high level of professional judgement, and the ability to balance strategic priorities with daytoday operational demands.This role holds significant accountability for budget management, resource planning, workforce administration, and financial reporting across the organisation. It plays a critical role in aligning school operations with departmental requirements, ensuring the school operates efficiently, ethically, and in the best interests of its students and community.ObjectivesManage the daytoday running of the College in a professional manner.To ensure the financial, personnel, physical, governance and administrative records are maintained in efficient and timely manner as per the Department of Education guidelines.Maintain effective lines of communication with all members of the College community.ResponsibilitiesPrepare annual School Council budget and regularly oversee and review all aspects of financial transactions reporting to the Campus Principal, Finance Committee and School Council as required.Manage and direct the preparation of annual budgets and regular financial statements and contribute to the financial decision making of the school and overseeing the overall allocation of funding from our Student Resource Package (SRP).Manage all of the Colleges purchasing cards including authorisation of transactions and credit limits.Manage and coordinate all of financial audits and acquittals to ensure processes are followed.Provide advice to staff on spending against budget in respect to faculties, programs and other school projectsAdminister government grants and other fundings.Attend and present the schools financial position to the School Council and Finance Committees.Preparation of all Finance minutes and agendas.Provide financial input to develop techniques and procedures that will affect work practices.Planning and OrganisationManage with a focus on best practice, the work practices and priorities, performance and development of education support staff to achieve the delivery of quality administrative and customer service to the school community across all campuses.Provide advice and make recommendations in support of the planning and implementation of proposed capital works, maintenance and general building and grounds projects for all campuses.Manage and support administration staff.Organise and prioritise procedures and tasks to ensure efficient work flow within the main office staff.Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, confidentiality and continuous improvement.School Systems and OperationsManage the cleaning, waste removal and hire of facilities agreements for the College including our insurance portfolio for all buildings and motor vehicles.Provide advice on workcover claims, Edusafe plus and OHS issues as required.Other DutiesContribute to policy development and continuous improvement.All duties to be performed as directed by Campus Principal.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.Diversity and InclusionThe department is committed to diversity and inclusion and developing a workforce that is representative of the community we service.
