Please fill in your details below to submit an application for this position.The primary site for this position is: MelbourneThis role provides hands on support to the Cell Therapies Team, assisting with basic laboratory tasks, maintenance of the cell therapy processing facility, and general operational support. It is ideally suited to a PhD student or early-career research trainee seeking practical experience in a highly regulated cell therapy laboratory environment under supervision.The Casual Laboratory Assistant will report to the Facility Manager and work closely with laboratory, scientific support, and administrative staff across the Institute.SELECTION CRITERIAThe role will suit someone who is:Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to follow established proceduresEthical and compliance-focused, with a strong commitment to laboratory safety and qualityOrganised, methodical, and capable of maintaining accurate recordsAcollaborative team member with good communication skillsBasic tissue experienceInterest in cell and gene therapies, bone marrow transplantation, or regenerative medicineYour responsibilities include:Assisting with routine Haematopoietic Cell (HPC) product processing tasks under supervision, including sample handling, labelling, and documentationSupporting facility maintenance activities, including cleaning, stock monitoring, and basic equipment checks in line with ISO 15189 and NPAAC standardsPreparing reagents, consumables, and materials in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs)Accurately recording and maintaining laboratory logs and documentationAssisting with inventory management, stocktakes, and ordering as requiredAdhering to laboratory safety, biosafety, quality, and compliance protocols at all timesAttending training sessions and contributing to a strong culture of safety and complianceEMPLOYMENT TERMSThis is a casual position, salary is based on the Scientific Support Group, classification TAP 2 (dependent on experience) Superannuation of 12% and very attractive salary packaging options are available.General enquiries can be directed to Hudson HR - [email protected].
