The Senior APO Clerk provides senior-level clerical, operational, and customer service support to the Postmaster. This role is responsible for overseeing daily APO operations, ensuring compliance with postal, DOD, and OASIS regulations, and providing guidance and direction to APO clerical staff. The Senior APO Clerk acts as the primary point of escalation for operational issues and customer service matters and supports continuity of operations across all shifts.Applicants must be a USA citizen who have a Secret Australian Citizen who can obtain the appropriate level of security clearance.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Senior APO Clerk is expected to carry out the following duties in accordance with established procedures, safety standards, and operational requirementsOversee sorting and distribution of personal, official and registered mail to ensure accuracy, security and timeliness.Supervise checking of outgoing mail for proper postage, addressing, and endorsements in accordance with postal regulationsCoordinate and verify collection and processing of letter mail from drop boxes.Ensure bundling, routing, and labelling of mail is completed correctly and efficiently.Prepare, verify, and approve documentation for dispatch of mail, ensuring timely movement and regulatory complianceManage redirection and forwarding of mail for departed personnel, ensuring accountability and traceability.Act as Senior APO Finance Clerk, including oversight of daily financial activitiesOversee sale, replenishment, reconciliation, and secure storage of postage stockApply and interpret postal, DOD, and international regulations to determine postal costs, restrictions, and eligibility for domestic and foreign mail.Provide supervisory coverage across APO operating hours through shift coordination and skip-shift arrangementsEnsure compliance with OASIS policies, directives, reporting requirements, and audit readiness.Provide mentoring, on-the-job training, and performance guidance to APO ClerksManage inventory levels, cash flow, reconciliations and discrepancy resolutionMonitor and drive high levels of customer satisfaction, resolving escalated customer issuesReview, develop, and process customer requests in accordance with postal and regulatory procedures.Support internal and external audits and implement corrective actions as requiredPerform other duties as directed by the Postmaster or Logistics and Transportation ManagerQualificationsMinimum EssentialAdvanced ability to operate Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.) with experience in reporting, data analysis, and reconciliationProficient in APO RSS/POS financial systems, including handling cash, stamps, mail stock, and accountability procedures for daily postal operationsAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a dedicated teamDemonstrated leadership experienceDemonstrated communication and interpersonal skillsSound administrative and record-keeping skillsValid driver''s LicenseStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in operational tasksDesirableForklift License and materials handling experienceFirst Aid and CPR certificationsExperience and SkillsMinimum of 5 Years'' experience in Postal Operations.Strong working knowledge of USPS, DOD, and International Postal Regulations.Ability to operate effectively in a customer-facing, front desk environment.Ability to support staff development through coaching and mentoring.Effectively organize and priorities of tasks in a high-volume environment.Ability to delegate tasks appropriately and monitor completion.Ability to manage operational risks and escalate issues as requiredPhysical RequirementsAbility to independently lift and handle items weighing up to 25 kilograms as part of regular duties.Physical stamina and endurance to perform tasks that involve prolonged standing, walking, bending, or repetitive motions.Capability to operate material handling equipment and safely maneuver heavy loads as needed.Tolerance to work in outdoor and remote environments under varying weather conditions.Security Clearance RequirementIt is a condition of employment that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role.
