Opening in 1987 as a 26-bed hostel, Cabanda was a vision of the local community to provide an aged care facility where people could age in the community they lived in.Since then, we have grown to include a 71 Bed Residential Aged Care Facility, a retirement village with 42 independent living units, Centre based Respite and Social Care Group, Home and Community Care, Meals on Wheels, Community Transport, and the Cabanda Caf.Cabanda is the largest employer in Rosewood and the vision of Rosewood residents living in a community with those they have known all their lives has been maintained. We provide 24-hour access to an employee assistance program for our staff.Cabanda Care not just a job, but a community.Job DescriptionPosition purposeTo supervise the day to day care of residents of the facility in a manner that is resident centered; delivers quality service; and adheres to Cabanda''s mission and vision statements.Main tasksCore objectives include:Involvement in care plans for each resident, evaluate and review at intervals as requiredEnsure resident''s individual needs are met by the provision of appropriate servicesAssist and support Doctors and other medical professionals in their assessment and treatment of residents.Ensure resident views are sought in matters relating to them and their lives in the facilityInvolvement in establishment and modification of a continuing schedule of residents'' spiritual, physical, social, and mental activitiesMaintain compliance with the accreditation standardsEnsure documentation required to maximise Government funding/subsidies is current.Maintain resident''s records.Supervise allocated staff on each shift to ensure all are working efficiently and effectively within their scope of practice.Supervisor of staff/resident relationships to ensure that residents are given privacy, dignity and as far as possible, independenceAssist residents with making and keeping of appointmentsObserve, document and report to the DON resident matters such as:Change in health statusPhysical ailmentsChanges in behavior patternsUnusual reactionsLoss of appetiteGain or loss of weightReplace sick staff in accordance with authorised staffing levels and in observance of industrial awardsMonitor staff performanceContribute to continuous improvement in the facilityEnsure that all practices for the workplace health and safety are observed, including familiarity with fire and safety equipment and fire drillsEnsure staff are willing, co-operative and friendly towards residents and their familiesThe above list is not exhaustive and the role may change to meet the overall objectives of the company.Other DutiesFulfil other duties as required by management and other departmentpersonnel as requested/requireTo express a responsible attitude to work safety.To attend all mandatory training and other in-service education asrequired.Attend meetings as requiredComplete CQI Forms/Hazard Forms/Feedback Forms to identifyproblems and make suggestions for improving the working and livingenvironment.Desired Skills and ExperienceProfessional approach.Ability to work under pressure.Is reliable and punctual.Has the ability and is willing to maintain harmonious interpersonal andworking relationshipsDesiredcompetenciesThe ability to support a safe environment within the Facility.The ability to safeguard the dignity and privacy of the Residents.The ability to prioritise care and make decisions about care needs ofthe residentsQualificationsMaintains a current registration as a Registered Nurse with APHRACurrent CPR CertificateHas a current Police CertificateExperienceExperience in Aged Care is an advantageA minimum 2 years post registration experienceWe will consider newly graduated candidates if able to display the correct skill setKnowledgeCurrent knowledge of personal and environmental hygieneEffective interpersonal and communication skills with other staff andResidents.Knowledge of Infection Control Guidelines.Has a genuine interest in Aged CareCustomer service focused: committed to providing customer serviceacross all channels written, phone and face to face.Communication: the ability to communicate clearly and concisely,varying communication style depending upon the audience.Attention to detail: attention to detail when communicating withothers, both internally and externally.Commerciality: ability to apply knowledge in a practical, commercialmanner.#J-18808-Ljbffr
