OverviewLocation: Wollongong, New South WalesEmployment type: Full-time (Permanent)Lead the way in delivering safe, quality civil projects with Wollongong City Council. This role supports the City Works Maintenance team at Central Works and North Works, delivering high-quality maintenance and construction projects that contribute to an extraordinary Wollongong.As a Leading Hand in Civil Works, you will combine hands-on expertise with leadership responsibility, oversee day-to-day operations, ensure safety and compliance, and mentor a skilled team to achieve outstanding results. This role emphasizes driving efficiency, fostering collaboration, and upholding Council values of Respect, Integrity, One Team, Sustainability, and Courage.Salary: from $87,142.96 up to $96,259.86 per annum, plus superannuation. Salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications. Some on-call, weekend and overtime work may be required. Employment is subject to clearance of all these checks.What You Will Be DoingLead and supervise a team in civil construction and maintenance activities.Plan, organise, and coordinate works with minimal supervision.Prepare resource estimates (labour, plant, materials) and monitor project details and costs.Ensure compliance with WHS systems, environmental obligations, and Council policies.Mentor and assess performance, resolve conflicts, and foster team development.Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and the public to deliver safe, efficient outcomes.Maintain accurate documentation including timesheets, reports, and safety records.About YouYou''re a hands-on leader who thrives in civil works and takes pride in delivering quality outcomes.
