Job Description

The Assistant Director, Assembly Coordination and Reporting, under limited direction from the Senior Director, Ministerial Services Unit, is responsible for oversight of the coordination of a proactive agenda of business for Justice and Community Safety (JACS) Ministers in the lead up to, during and following ACT Legislative Assembly sitting periods. The Assistant Director also supports the coordination and preparation of materials to support Directorate Executives and Ministers at Committee Hearings, including Annual Report and Estimates Hearings.The Assistant Director acts as a central point of contact between the Directorate, the Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate''s (CMTEDD) Government Business and Coordination team, other directorates and the ministers'' offices on Assembly business.The Assistant Director holds responsibility of the coordination, oversight, and quality assurance of corporate reporting responsibilities for the Directorate and provides highlevel liaison, where necessary, to ensure clarity and consistency of advice. This includes but is not limited to Government Commitments and Supply and Confidence Agreements reporting, and summary reports to the Directorate Executive and Ministers on the Directorate''s Cabinet, Assembly and ministerial business.This position also provides support on an asneeds basis as a JACS Directorate Liaison Officer.Eligibility / Other requirementsExperience and understanding of ACT Government Cabinet, ministerial, ACT Legislative Assembly and machineryofgovernment processes is highly desirable.Experience in digital records management systems (i.e. HPE Content Manager) is highly desirable.This position may require the successful applicant to either hold or be able to obtain a baseline security clearance.To be eligible for permanent or temporary employment within the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or hold a valid work visa.If an officer no longer holds a visa that permits them to work in Australia, their employment with the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) will be terminated.NotesThis is a temporary position available from 01 February 2026 until 06 November 2026 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months.An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.This position is in a workplace designed for activitybased working (ABW).
