Coral Expeditions is wholly owned by the NRMA and joins a connected family of companies including NRMA Parks and Resorts, NRMA Roadside Assist, NRMA Marine and Ferries as well as SIXT Car Rentals.Job DescriptionOur RoleThe Fleet Maintenance Manager organises and supervises maintenance activities to ensure work done meets required quality standards. This extends to cost management, crewing and compliance to company and legislative requirements pertinent to the operation and the vessels.The Fleet Maintenance Manager facilitates in-depth troubleshooting to help engineering crew and contractors to resolve issues, providing advice on ship and system maintenance.This role will be based in Sydney with travel to Cairns/Ships/Shipyards when required.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Collaborating with the Marine asset team to develop maintenance plans for scheduled or corrective maintenance.Support diagnosis of defects and troubleshoot maintenance discrepancies, make on time decisions for schedule changes to resolve conflicts among maintenance and daily operations schedule, including responding outside of normal office hours.Be familiar with company and regulatory requirements and certification. Assist the Fleet Operations Manager to ensure certificates are recorded and current.Efficiently schedule maintenance activities in port, verify completion to appropriate standards,Onsite co-ordination of refit projects to achieve timelines and desired outcomes, work with the marine asset team and chief operations officer to prepare for, oversee and schedule vessel surveys (refit).Review and develop preferred contractors, contacts/contracts for key operational ports to facilitate planned, after hours and emergency maintenance/ repairs.Work with the Fleet Operations Manager to find cost effective, appropriate quality and safe solutions to operational issues, record and review Repair and Maintenance expenditure working to set budgets.Work with the People & Culture team to foster high morale within the department. Any concerns are to be addressed onboard by the Chief Engineer in the first instance and thereafter escalated to Chief Operations Officer as required.The Fleet Maintenance Manager is required to work collaboratively and become involved with the following aspects of People & Culture management:Assist the People & Culture Executive Recruitment as and when required for technical aspects and life at sea requirements with Engineering roles.Notify the People & Culture Manager immediately of any performance management concerns relating to the shipbased Engineers.Assist with any rostering challenges as and when required.Promote a culture of training and development within the Engineering team and support Engineers in their growth and development through encouragement, mentoring and recommendations.Review guest feedback to identify and resolve maintenance issues.Ensure all regulations along with guidelines are enforced.Supervise all parts procurement for repairs and coordinate to achieve on time repairs.Maintain and record Marine documentation including MS, monthly reports, Refit reports, Refit schedules and ships records & correspondence.Desired Skills and ExperienceThe ideal candidate will possess:Qualifications:Degree/qualification in Mechanical/Maritime Engineering.Chief Engineer Class 1 or 2 RAV Vessels (Unlimited propulsion power)Experience:Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Technical Superintendent or in a similar role within ship management.Project Management experience beneficialMinimum 10 years maintenance background.Experience with Azipods vesselsExperience with SMS and ISM.Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication.Excellent Problem-solving ability.Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/SharePoint).Organised and able to meet deadlines.What we can offer youCareer growth in a progressive and expanding Australian company.A supportive and collaborative office team environment.The opportunity to work and travel in amazing destinations and with inspiring products.As we screen all applicants and select candidates whose qualifications and experience meet our needs, we will carefully consider your application during the initial screening and will contact you if you are selected to continue in the recruitment process.
