Drop In Group Volunteer at Royal Victoria Infirmary NewcastleAs a Drop-In Group Volunteer, you will provide support to help run the activities taking place as part of a hospital-based support group for children and families.ResponsibilitiesSetting up for the session''s activities and tidying up at the endParticipating in craft and play activities with children and their families - this could include games, reading, cookery or arts and craftsProviding emotional support for children and their parents or carersSkills & QualitiesA warm, friendly and enthusiastic volunteer, happy to get stuck inA great communicator, with excellent listening skillsAble to work both independently and as part of the teamNon-judgementalWhen & Where?Opportunities to volunteer every Thursday from 12 - 1 pm. We are looking for volunteers to support on a regular basis.Training and Support Offered / ExpensesA dedicated member of Rainbow Trust staff will guide and support you in your workYou will receive a full induction to the charity and a programme of training relevant to your role, to help you get the most from your time with usTraining will cover areas such as safeguarding, active listening skills, bereavement, health and safety, confidentiality and GDPRFurther modules will be available for you if you would like to develop your knowledgeAll care volunteers will receive regular one-to-one support and more formal supervision sessionsWe are a Sunday Times Top 100 Not-for-Profit organisation and a leading charity for children and young people.
