About the roleModellers are responsible for the production of highly accurate and efficient CG models for use in highend visual effects films. Modellers will work from reference which may include photographs, scan data, blueprints and/or concept designs. Modellers work closely with Texture Artists to produce models and UVs that meet the specific requirements of a VFX pipeline.What you''ll doCreating models as briefed and/or in line with reference materialsUnderstanding and following outlined naming conventionsPresenting models for progress review to Leads, Supervisors and clientsEnsuring consistency of UV mappingCommunicating with other departments and production to ensure the model meets relevant requirementsMaking changes or updates to models as requiredOngoing communication with Production and Leads regarding schedules and deadlinesStaying on schedule and meeting set deadlines while maintaining the highest levels of qualityProviding guidance and assistance to more junior modellersQualificationsDegree / Diploma aligning to the position preferredAt least 5 years previous experience working in a film VFX pipelineA good working knowledge of MayaCreative, resourceful, and with strong spatial awarenessVery strong polygonal subdivision modelling skillsEfficient with layout of UVs and awareness of texture requirementsAble to interpret and follow reference material to create clean, highly detailed and accurate modelsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAble to organise own workflow in a meticulous mannerAble to work well within a teamYou might also haveCreative conceptual sculptingKnowledge of anatomyExperience with Mudbox and/or zBrushAccessibility StatementOur Melbourne studio is fully accessible, with stepfree entry, accessible toilets, and quiet spaces available.
