Senior Scientific Officer Legislation Strategy & Implementation Job no: 927816 Work type: Full time Location: Adelaide CBD Categories: Public Health, Policy, Regulation and Compliance Department : Department for Health and Wellbeing Public Health Health Protection and Regulation Salary : $101,285 to $107,078 PO3 Full Time / Term Contract up to 12 Months Overview The Senior Scientific Officer Legislation Strategy & Implementation is responsible for the effective development, review and implementation of binational (Australian and New Zealand), national and State food and primary production and processing (PPP) legislation. The role ensures coherent clarity, coordination and consistency of policy across South Australia and nationally. Responsibilities Develop, implement, assess and review State and national food regulation legislation policy. Control and coordinate complex, sensitive programs and operations to ensure timely, economic and effective legislation delivery. Develop stakeholder networks and communication channels; provide scientific advice and consultancy to other agencies, industry and the public. Provide crucial information and advice to management and peers on monitoring, development and delivery of programmes. Manage Notifiable Contaminants Regulations 2020 notifications: conduct risk assessments, determine need for food recalls, site visits or other actions. Out of hours work will be required via a rotating weekend oncall roster. Other out of hours work may be required. Requirements Criminal History Screening Requirement A National Police Certificate (NPC) is required for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups. Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact) SA Health Services must implement the Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
