Senior Software Engineer Front End Web Department: Technology Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time Location: Melbourne Description About The Role As a Software Engineer Front End Web, youll be part of the Betashares Direct team, building and evolving our web investing experience for Australian customers. Youll work within a small, AI-fluent, crossfunctional team alongside engineers, designers and product managers, shipping often and building products with real customer impact. This role sits at the intersection of design, engineering and customer experience. Youll design and deliver highquality, customerfacing software that brings clarity, trust and empathy to every step of a customers wealthbuilding journey. Working closely with the design team, youll help uplift and evolve our web platform through thoughtful interactions, purposeful animation and strong frontend craft. Youll also play a key role in advancing our design system and frontend foundations, shaping how design and engineering collaborate and helping the team leverage AIdriven tools and workflows as we scale. This is a strong opportunity for a senior frontend engineer who cares deeply about product quality, design excellence and building experiences that genuinely help customers. Role Responsibilities Design and build highquality, performant frontend features using modern frameworks such as React, Vue and TypeScript. Own features endtoend, from concept and design through to implementation and launch. Maintain and evolve the frontend design system and component library in close collaboration with design. Act as a bridge between design and engineering, shaping workflows, patterns and tooling to improve delivery and quality. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to frontend standards, patterns and best practices. Explore and apply AIenabled tools and approaches to improve developer experience, workflows and product outcomes. Skills & Experience 6+ years experience building modern web applications in production environments. Strong expertise in TypeScript and either React or Vue, with a solid understanding of componentdriven architecture. Experience designing, building and maintaining UI design systems or component libraries. Strong knowledge of frontend architecture, performance optimisation, accessibility and responsive design. Experience working with APIs (GraphQL / Apollo or similar). Familiarity with backend systems and distributed architectures is a plus. Comfortable using AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance product quality and delivery. Strong Git, CI/CD and modern engineering practices. Excellent collaboration and communication skills, particularly when working closely with designers and product teams.
