Reporting to the School''s Senior Manager and working closely with the Associate Dean, Research and Industry Engagement (ADRIE), this role is dedicated to providing high-level administrative support for the School''s research portfolio.The position focuses on managing the administrative lifecycle of research activitiesfrom large-scale grants to smaller projectsensuring compliance with ethics requirements, reporting obligations, and financial close processes. Working collaboratively with senior academic staff, researchers, and central University teams, the role ensures that all governance, policy, and procedural requirements are met efficiently and accurately.This is a purely administrative role: the Senior Research Support Officer does not conduct research but plays a critical part in enabling research success by delivering expert administration and coordination. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled administrator with exceptional attention to detail, strong organisational capability, and the ability to navigate complex compliance frameworks.Skills and ExperienceTo be considered for this position, you will haveAn undergraduate degree in any area relevant to the position with at least 4 years subsequent experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge training and/or experience.Ability to support research grant and contract and budget development, including the ability to develop and apply expertise in current La Trobe tools and systems.Demonstrated experience in monitoring, reviewing and streamlining workflows in alignment with internal and external procedures and policies to ensure compliance and efficiency.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially the capacity to work collaboratively and cooperatively in teams and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders to achieve outcomes.High level of discretion and ability to handle sensitive/confidential information.Demonstrated understanding of research administration and management systems such as interpreting funding guidelines and advising researchers on eligibility, compliance, and application processes, or ability to develop expertise in this area.Please refer to the Position Description for other duties, skills and experience required for this position.Welcome to Bundoora campus Please click on the video link below:We offer a wide range of benefits and entitlements to staff members at La Trobe.We''dlove to stay connected!
