The program has a primary responsibility for residents of inner South Eastern metropolitan Melbourne, but cares for all patients seeking its services.In response to various influences such as the Royal Commission into Victoria''s Mental Health Care System, broader public health sector transformation, changes to the Mental Health Act, workforce pressures and exponential growth in the demand for mental health services, and building on the successes of existing Antimicrobial, Anticoagulant and Analgesic Stewardship models at Alfred Health, an innovative and collaborative Psychotropic Stewardship Program has been designed and established within the AMAH programme to provide oversight of psychotropic prescribing and ensure appropriate, safe and judicious use of psychotropic medicines across the organisation, including developing a formal response to new legislation.About The RoleThe Senior Pharmacist Psychotropic Stewardship is a clinical leadership position based within the Alfred Pharmacy Department. Working closely with the Lead Pharmacist AMAH, the post will provide progressive advanced level patientcentred care across AMAH and the organisation.The post holder will be a key member of the multidisciplinary and collaborative approach to Psychotropic Stewardship across Alfred Health. A key role of the position is to actively optimise the appropriate use of Psychotropic medicines, reduce adverse events and improve patient care and their experiences across Alfred Health. This position will develop, lead and operationalise highquality clinical pharmacy initiatives and services to support optimal use of psychotropic medications in liaison with other stakeholders within/outside of AMAH in order to meet national and local objectives.
