Responsibilities include maintaining the hotel building, public areas and event spaces, guest rooms & suites, essential services and life safety systems, managing colleagues & contractors, and overseeing specialised projects. This role also leads the hotel Sustainability Team, focusing on reducing utility consumption and developing innovative environmental initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesPreOpening: Review engineering drawings, schedules and manuals; coordinate with project consultants and contractors to ensure construction and installation meet brand specification and local regulations; participate in site inspections and commissioning of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, elevators, life safety); develop the preopening engineering critical path and operational plan; establish preventive maintenance programs and asset registers for all equipment, including utilities.Operating Responsibilities (PostOperating Transition): Ensure safe and efficient operation of all technical systems; oversee preventive and corrective maintenance across guestrooms, public areas, heartofhouse, and outdoor spaces.Safety & Compliance: Maintain compliance with fire, health and safety regulations; lead emergency procedures and coordinate regular safety drills.Budget Management: Prepare and manage engineering budgets, capex and utility expenses; monitor energy usage and implement costeffective energy management strategies.Vendor & Contractor Management: Manage external contractors for specialised maintenance and inspections; ensure SLA compliance and timely completion of service works.Guest Support: Ensure prompt response to guest engineeringrelated issues, maintaining high guest satisfaction standards.QualificationsProven success as an Engineering Manager within luxury or upperupscale hotels (advantageous).Degree or diploma in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, civil or related fields) or tradesperson qualification.Minimum 57 years of hotel engineering experience, including 2+ years in supervisory or managerial role.Strong experience in preopening hotel projects preferred.Strong understanding of hospitality engineering systems and preventive maintenance programs.Knowledge of local building codes, HO&S standards, and fire safety regulation.Excellent leadership, communication and project coordination skills.Why Join Andaz Gold Coast by HyattBe part of the first Andaz in Australia and set a new benchmark for lifestyle luxury on the Gold Coast nationwide.A valuesled culture: empathy, integrity, respect, inclusion, experimentation and wellbeing.Global career pathways with Hyatt; generous hotel discounts and benefits worldwide.Wellbeing programs, EAP, and competitive leave benefits.A creative environment where your ideas shape the hotel''s story and success.LocationOnsite, Broadbeach, Gold Coast QLD.How To ApplyPlease submit your CV and a brief cover letter sharing a standout outlet launch or activation you''ve led, including commercial and guestimpact results.Discover Andaz: is an equal opportunity employer.
