It operates in a highly complex environment involving sensitive clinical data, regulatory obligations, and a large, distributed stakeholder base across hospitals, surgeons, researchers, and external partners.This is a one year full time position, with the possibility of extension.The role will report to the Chief Information Officer.The Project Manager will manage a Senior Business Analyst contract role.The Technology Project Manager role involves:Project Governance and DeliveryEstablish and maintain the overall project management framework, including project plans, schedules, budgets and governance artefactsLead delivery across all project phases, including discovery, solution design, build, data migration, testing, training, go-live, and post-implementation stabilisationEnsure alignment with AOA''s project governance framework, procurement obligations, and executive reporting requirementsPrepare and present clear, concise project updates for executive leadership, steering committees, and other governance forumsVendor and Commercial ManagementAct as AOA''s primary day-to-day interface with the delivery partner(s), ensuring contractual obligations under the MSA and SOWs are metManage dependencies between discovery outcomes and subsequent buildManage SOWs, ensuring scope, cost, and timelines remain aligned with RFP commitmentsOversee vendor delivery performance, including milestone tracking, deliverable acceptance, invoicing validation, and issue escalationStakeholder EngagementEngage closely with internal teams to ensure business requirements are understood, prioritised, and deliveredFacilitate workshops and structured engagement sessions during discovery and design phasesManage expectations across diverse stakeholder groups, including clinical and non-technical audiencesRisk, Issue, and Dependency ManagementIdentify, assess, and actively manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, including regulatory, data, security, and change impactsEnsure appropriate mitigation strategies and escalation pathways are in place and actively monitoredMaintain a strong focus on delivery assurance, proactively addressing risks to schedule, cost, and/or qualityQuality, Change, and AdoptionEnsure appropriate quality management practices are applied across all project phases, including testing, acceptance, and delivery readinessTake primary accountability for coordinating change management activities and addressing change impacts through project planning and deliveryDrive adoption and transition to business-as-usual operations, including coordination of pragmatic training, communications, and handover to the support and operational teamsCollaboration and SupportProvide project management expertise, guidance, and support to the Technology team and other departments within the organisationProvide support to the Chief Information Officer in the preparation of meeting agendas & minutes, AOA Board papers and other documentation as required.QualificationsTo be successful in this role, applicants will have the following qualifications:Tertiary qualifications in information technology, project management, business administration, or a related fieldRelevant certifications in project management, such as PRINCE2.Applicants also require the following knowledge, experience & skills:Demonstrated experience delivering large, complex technology implementation projects, preferably in healthcare, data, or regulated environmentsStrong vendor and commercial management experience, including managing delivery partners under formal contractsProven ability to manage ambiguity and evolving scope, particularly across discovery-led delivery modelsExcellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including experience working with senior executivesStrong understanding of project governance, risk management, and delivery assuranceExperience with clinical registries, health data platforms, or research systemsFamiliarity with cloud-based platforms, data migration, and system modernisation initiativesExperience working in not-for-profit, member-based, or public-interest organisations.About the CompanyThe Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) is the peak professional organisation for orthopaedic surgery in Australia.
