With operations across Australia, Papua New Guinea, TimorLeste and North America, Santos has been supplying reliable and affordable energy for over 65 years.About the Assignment The primary objective of this position is to support the Manager Health and Safety (H&S) to establish, implement and maintain fitforpurpose health and safety frameworks and programs that centre on preventing harm, minimising risks, building capability, driving participation and engagement, and promoting a culture of care and curiosity.Essential to the success of the role is the engagement, collaboration and influencing of key stakeholders to understand H&S needs, develop effective strategies and solutions, and drive continuous improvement.Provide H&S leadership, direction, expertise, and support in H&S management.Develop and demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of the organisation''s core purpose, functions, activities, and challenges to enable effective H&S support.Support the establishment, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of H&S risk management and risk assurance framework inclusive of highrisk work, Life Saving Rules and fatal/critical personal safety risks to verify and validate the effectiveness of H&S risk controls.Identify, monitor, measure, evaluate, benchmark, analyse and report on top fatal/critical risks and the effectiveness of risk controls to identify trends and develop strategies to improve performance.Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of H&S risk standards and minimum mandatory controls that drive best practice risk controls and meet regulatory requirements.Proactively explore opportunities to reduce risk through technology and innovation, including connecting and integrating best practice across the organisation.Embed H&S risk management system into everyday operations by focussing on tailored, practical, and fitforpurpose processes and platforms.Oversee and provide input into Regions and major projects teams to ensure H&S risk management activities are applied and adequate.Implement, maintain, and continually improve the H&S training and competency framework inclusive of H&S risk management, Life Saving Rules, STRIVE safety conversations, learning (incident investigation) and LEAP based Always Safe training for leaders.Deliver and maintain the STRIVE safety conversations program aligned to the Always Safe value and to drive worker participation, engagement, and contribution to H&S.Collaboratively develop, lead and support organisational projects and initiatives to enhance H&S outcomes, applying project management and Management of Change principles and processes.Facilitate learning from serious incidents through implementation and ongoing improvement of incident investigation processes. This includes building investigator capability, coordinating investigation teams, driving investigation outcomes, facilitating investigation reviews, coordinating learnings into actionable improvements, communication of learnings, monitoring actions to closure and conducting incident reviews to verify and validate learning.Deliver H&S training and competency framework that builds organisational and H&S practitioner capability to enable the business to deliver on H&S strategy, objectives, and improvements.Support the H&S communication and consultation framework, ensuring effective communication channels are established, utilised effectively and maintained throughout the organisation.Oversee performance of H&S risk assurance and performance metrics (such as from EHS Toolbox, IVMS, guardian) to identify trends, accurately reflect the effectiveness of risk controls, and inform strategy.Remain current and informed on industry standards, H&S legislative developments, technology advancements, innovations and lessons learnt, communicate these to the organisation, and facilitate adoption where relevant.Lead, manage, mentor, coach and develop Leaders and H&S team members to enable the team to deliver on H&S strategy, objectives, and improvements.Utilise expertise across the organisation to make informed decisions and drive effective outcomes.Drive exceptional performance through fostering a highperformance and continuous improvement culture. Proactively pursue strategies to improve H&S performance, effectiveness, and efficiencies.Actively engage, collaborate with and influence industry forums such as Safer Together, and other external stakeholders.Embody our Always Safe value and actively contribute to creating positive and leading H&S maturity consistent with our vision, policies, and standards.Lead/participate in independent H&S incident investigations, assurance activities, assessments, analyses, and reviews with an emphasis on coaching and sharing best practice.Compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS), Santos Delegation of Authority (DOA) and Santos Corporate Governance and Safety requirements.This assignment is initially offered for 12 months, engaged via Chandler Macleod.Location for this assignment is Adelaide, CBD working fulltime office hours.About You Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety / WHS (Degree or Masters preferred). Significant demonstrated experience in large, complex organisations and highrisk industry. Strong experience in highrisk industries is required. Chartered professional with Australian Institute of Health and Safety (or equivalent international body) is desirable. Lead investigator qualifications (ICAM/Taproot) are desirable. Certificate IV Training and Assessment (TAE) is desirable.Technical competencies for this position are: Partner collaboratively, engage and influence across multiple leadership stakeholder groups. Strong working knowledge of H&S legislation and risk management. Excellent skills in developing and facilitating various H&S risk management tools (JHA, SWMS, HAZID, etc). Strong research and analytical skills. Solutions focussed and action oriented to drive continuous improvement.
