The salary is $82,000 (FTE) + super and benefits.About UsCanteen is all about supporting young people and their families affected by cancer. Founded by young cancer patients, we offer programs and resources that truly make a difference for 12-25 year-olds facing their own diagnosis, supporting a loved one, or grieving. We are now seeking a Programs Officer, who will play a pivotal role in creating and delivering fun psychosocial and recreational experiences to young people impacted by cancer. Canteen is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and people of all ages.BenefitsBase Salary + Superannuation + Not-For-Profit Salary Packaging (up to $18,550 of your salary tax-free).5 Weeks Annual Leave (FTE) + 17.5% leave loading + pay during our annual office closure week.Early access to long service leaveLearning & Development opportunities.Role SummaryAbout Our RoleDesign, plan and facilitate fun and engaging one-day/multi-day events and peer connection experiences for young people aged 12-25 impacted by cancer.Act as the key worker/regular contact person for 12-25-year-olds accessing Canteen programsFacilitate the state based Youth Leadership ProgramCollaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to mitigate risk and ensure young people meet their psychosocial and peer support goalsExpand and grow Canteen''s reach to young people and families impacted by cancer by establishing and maintaining referral relationships with external organisations.Conduct risk analysis of planned activities in line with Canteen''s risk management guidelinesQualificationsTertiary qualification in social work, youth work, education, a creative/arts discipline, allied health, or related fields is highly regardedSkilled at group facilitation and experience engaging with young people (12-25 year-olds)Creative thinker with an adventurous streakStrong organisational and time management skills with attention to detailWarm, compassionate, and strengths-based approach to supporting young peopleCertified in First Aid, Suicide prevention training, Mental Health First Aid, (or willing to rapidly obtain)Current drivers licenceApplicationsApplications close on Friday 6 February 2026.
