You''ll be at the forefront of Australia''s energy transition, structuring transactions that shape how major industrial customers, renewable developers and market participants engage with wholesale commodity markets.Design and execute complex energy transactions across wholesale electricity and gas markets. Develop bespoke commodity solutions for Australia''s largest energy users and structure innovative commercial arrangements including corporate PPAs, behind-the-metre solutions, tolling agreements, virtual power plants and sophisticated structured derivatives. Work closely with trading desks, pricing teams, risk management, legal and commercial functions to deliver transformational transactions whilst managing deal economics and portfolio optimisation outcomes.What You''ll DoLead Origination and Transaction Structuring:Design complex energy transactions including renewable PPAs (baseload, shaped, pay-as-produced), gas supply agreements (firm, interruptible, swing, seasonal), tolling arrangements, capacity agreements and sophisticated structured derivatives across wholesale electricity and gas commodity marketsDevelop bespoke energy solutions for commercial and industrial customers requiring sophisticated arrangements across both power and gas, including firming solutions, renewable integration, dual-fuel strategies and portfolio optimisationBuild comprehensive financial models evaluating deal economics, multi-year cash flows and detailed risk profiles incorporating volumetric risk, basis risk, shape risk, gas pipeline constraints, seasonal gas pricing dynamics and counterparty credit riskPrice complex structured products using quantitative methodologies including option pricing frameworks, Monte Carlo simulation and portfolio optimisation techniquesNegotiate sophisticated commercial terms with customers, counterparties and project developers, managing complex multi-party arrangementsManage deal pipeline from opportunity identification through qualification, structuring, approval and executionDrive Transaction Execution:Coordinate transaction execution across trading desks, pricing teams, risk management, expertise structuring and closing multiple large-scale energy transactions in Australian marketsDeep understanding of Australian electricity and gas markets including NEM operations, spot market dynamics, AEMO systems, market mechanisms, transmission frameworks, east coast gas market dynamics and regulatory environment (NER, Retailer Reliability Obligation)Advanced financial modelling capabilities including deal economics, discounted cash flow analysis, risk assessment frameworks and portfolio optimisation using Excel, Python or equivalent platformsDemonstrated experience structuring corporate power purchase agreements for renewable energy projects, understanding offtake risk, shape risk and merchant exposureStrong understanding of gas markets including pipeline
