Senior Mine Safety Officer (Survey & Geospatial)Location: Maitland, NSW (other NSW Resources locations considered by negotiation).Temporary fulltime opportunity until 2030.Starting salary from $164,015 per annum (excluding super and annual leave loading).About the RoleProvide specialist leadership in mine surveying spatial information and subsidence monitoring. Carry out statutory regulatory functions, ensure compliance with legislation and maintain high safety standards across mine sites. Manage key historical and current datasets, lead projects strengthening systems and processes, and contribute to incident investigations and assessments where spatial expertise is essential.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct compliance and enforcement activities under NSW WHS law at mining operations with a focus on mine survey provisions of the WHS (Mines & Petroleum Sites) Regulation 2022.Deliver projects to maintain and enhance data systems related to mine survey spatial information and subsidence monitoring.Improve the knowledge and understanding of spatial practices and technologies across the business (e.g., remote monitoring, UAV, GNSS, GIS).Participate in inspections, assessments and investigations where surveying or geospatial expertise is required.Consult with mine operators, worker representatives, government agencies, community groups and professional bodies to improve work health and safety outcomes where spatial information is integral; represent the Resources Regulator at industry forums and working groups.Oversee, maintain and improve the historical mine survey archive, including stored hardcopy and current digital catalogue for operating mines.Essential RequirementsTertiary qualification in surveying or equivalent and eligibility to be registered as a mine surveyor in NSW.Must be able to work on weekends and backshifts and respond to incidents outside normal business hours on a rostered basis.Hold and maintain a current Class C driver licence.Compliance with preemployment probity screening and the Resources Regulator Pecuniary Interests in the Regulated Sector policy is mandatory.Ongoing participation in health screening programme.About YouAbility to build trust and confidence of mine operators and workers through cooperative and open relationships.Experience working in a dynamic environment, responding to unexpected changes and reprioritising deliverables.Proven experience as a mine surveyor; underground experience highly regarded.Eligibility for registration under the Surveying and Spatial Information Act 2002.Strong knowledge and capability in GIS technologies, subsidence monitoring methods and mine surveying standards.Understanding of mining legislation, industry systems and auditing methodologies.Advanced communication skills; translate complex technical information for diverse audiences.Strong project management and documentation capability.High levels of integrity, professionalism and commitment to safety.Application ProcessSubmit a resume (approx. 4 pages) and a cover letter (approx. 2 pages) detailing your relevant skills and experience.Application closing date: Wednesday 4 February 2026 at 11:55pm.ContactFor further information, contact Ray Ramage, Principal Inspector Subsidence Engineering.#J-18808-Ljbffr
