OverviewWe are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established construction business seeking an experienced Financial Accountant / Senior Bookkeeper to take ownership of their end-to-end bookkeeping and project-based accounting. This is a hands-on role ideally suited to someone with construction or trades experience who understands job costing, progress claims, subcontractor payments, and cash flow management in a project environment. Reporting directly to the Director, you will be responsible for the financial day-to-day operations of the business, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.ResponsibilitiesEnd-to-end bookkeeping for a construction businessBank, credit card, and loan reconciliationsAccounts payable and receivableManaging supplier invoices and subcontractor paymentsPreparing and processing progress claims and customer invoicingJob costing and project cost trackingPayroll & CompliancePayroll processing (including STP)Managing timesheets, allowances, and overtimeSuperannuation processingBAS preparation and lodgementManaging GST across construction transactionsReporting & SupportProviding accurate job cost and financial reports to managementSupporting cash flow management and forecastingLiaising with external accountants and auditorsMaintaining clean, audit-ready financial recordsAbout You23+ years'' bookkeeping or accounting experience (construction or project-based highly regarded)Strong understanding of job costing and project accountingExperience using Xero or similar cloud-based accounting softwareSolid knowledge of GST and BASPayroll experience including STP and superannuationHigh attention to detail and accuracyDesirable (but not essential)Experience with Databuild or similar construction softwareExposure to progress billing and retention accountingCertificate IV or Diploma in Bookkeeping / AccountingExperience working closely with project managers or site teamsCulture & FitHighly organised and dependableComfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentPractical, hands-on, and solutions-focusedConfident communicating with suppliers, subcontractors, and managementAble to work autonomously while following established processesWhat''s on OfferFull-time, office-based positionSalary: $70,000 $90,000 + Super, depending on experienceDirect access to decision-makersStable role within a growing construction businessApply now: If you''re a construction-experienced bookkeeper or financial accountant who enjoys job costing, payroll, and being close to the operations side of the business, we''d love to hear from you.#J-18808-Ljbffr
