Instructional AideJob DescriptionExemption Status/Test: NonexemptReports to: Principal and Teacher(s) AssignedDate Revised: 2020-2021Primary Purpose:Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher.Qualifications:Education/Certification:High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificateHave met formal academic assessment, associates degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning*Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematicsAbility to work well with childrenAbility to communicate effectivelyExperience:Some experience working with childrenMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Instructional SupportProvide instruction to students under the direction of teacher; work with individual students or small groups.Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.Student ManagementHelp supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom.
