About the role The Privacy Lead drives the development and implementation of Engineers Australias privacy and ongoing privacy BAU function. This role ensures compliance with privacy laws, drives internal policy and framework development, and promotes a strong culture of privacy awareness. Working across legal, IT, security, and business functions, the Privacy Officer embeds privacy-by-design into operations and digital initiatives, addresses key privacy risks, and builds long-term governance through a dedicated Privacy Officeultimately uplifting EAs overall privacy capability and maturity. This is a 2 year fixed term opportunity. Location Flexible with a preference for Melbourne or Brisbane In this role you will: Lead EAs privacy program, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and embedding privacy-by-design across operations and digital initiatives. Develop and implement privacy policies, frameworks, and internal controls to support organisational compliance and best practice. Oversee privacy risk management, including conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and managing incidents and complaints. Provide strategic privacy advice to senior leaders, project teams, and business units, including support for thirdparty risk assessments. Foster a strong privacy culture through training, awareness initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and regular compliance reporting. Heres what were looking for: Extensive privacy expertise with 5+ years'' experience in privacy, data protection, or compliance, and a strong understanding of key regulations (e.g. Australian Privacy Act, GDPR, ISO 27701). Handson experience conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), managing privacy incidents, and developing privacy policies, frameworks, and controls. Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior leaders, project teams, and crossfunctional stakeholders. Preferred qualifications include certifications such as CIPP/E or CIPM, experience supporting digital transformation or data governance, and familiarity with privacy tools (e.g. OneTrust, TrustArc).
